Manchester United to bide their time in landing major target

Kevin Strootman The season is fast approaching and fans in the Football Transfer Tavern cannot wait.

But one person who reportedly can wait is Louis van Gaal as according to talkSPORT, the Manchester United boss is prepared to wait until January to make a move for Kevin Strootman.

The Roma midfielder is currently recovering from a serious knee injury but the Dutch tactician has confirmed that he still retains an interest in securing his services.

van Gaal is currently evaluating his current squad as he figures out which areas need strengthening ahead of his first season in the Premier League.

The ex-Netherlands boss told reporters on United’s pre-season tour of the USA: “I never usually say anything about individual players. It is my vision that we talk about a team and not individual players.

“But Strootman I can judge. He is injured for more than six months. We have to wait and see how he comes back. It is not easy to say how he comes back from injury, but we will wait and see.”

The Red Devils have already added Ander Herrera to their midfield this season but with Michael Carrick injured and Marouane Fellaini largely ineffective, it seems there are still additions to be made.
