Metro seem to be doing their best to make Manchester United fans more interested in the transfer rumours than the football action today and after this latest snippet about Dani Alves, we understand why.
The Red Devils are reportedly closing in on a summer move for the Brazilian right back who is of course considering his future at the minute.
Given his contract is finished come the end of the season and a new one does not look like being agreed any time soon, Louis van Gaal and his men are hopeful of getting an agreement thrashed out as soon as they can.
United fans’ hopes of a move have further been boosted after Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu appeared coy regarding the prospect of losing the former Sevilla man.
Speaking to Catalunya Radio, he noted: “What concerns us now is that he plays and contributes to the team. What is to come, will come. We never explain what we do on the issue of contracts.”
Alves is thought to be keen on a new challenge and it seem that Barcelona could well be keen on that happening as well with the Catalan club currently in turmoil, not to mention a potential new president arriving.
These are all factors that give our resident Red Devils fans hope in this particular transfer chase. One punter can’t hide his excitement as a swoop for Alves would mean Rafael and Antonio Valencia would be relegated to the substitutes bench!
