As has been usual in the Football Transfer Tavern we’re hearing speculation about a possible summer arrival at Manchester United as David Moyes seeks to shake up his current squad.
Today’s gossip comes from the Daily Star who suggest that Real Madrid will offer left back Fabio Coentrao to the Premier League champions in the summer.
It emerges that Madrid have decided to cut their losses with the 26-year-old at the end of the season and given previous interest from United, they have decided to see if they still want to sign the former Benfica man.
Moyes is thought to want Southampton starlet Luke Shaw as he tries to replace Patrice Evra at Old Trafford but the Saints want around £30 million for the recent England debutant.
This could make Coentrao a cheaper alternative with a price tag of around £10 million possibly enough to see him leaving the Bernabeu during the forthcoming summer. United had reportedly tried to sign him on a loan deal during summer deadline day but it wasn’t completed in time.
Chelsea were thought to be also tracking the defender but the excellent form of Cesar Azpilicueta has probably ended any interest from Stamford Bridge.
Is it a transfer no brainer for Moyes to land Coentrao for as little as £10 million? Let us know your thoughts below.
