The Daily Mail has a rather sensational claim to say the least today in the Football Transfer Tavern as they allege that Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo is set to meet with Manchester United officials in the next three days.
The Portuguese star has been linked with a move back to Old Trafford for some time now and it seems that this could be drawing closer and closer.
After expressing his ‘unhappiness’ earlier last season at the Spanish giants, Ronaldo also moved to strike talk of a new deal already being agreed, nearly causing a Twitter breakdown in the process.
Real Madrid have of course unveiled Carlo Ancelotti as their new boss, who when asked about the future of Ronaldo noted that: “Cristiano is a great player and I’m honoured to work with him.
“I’ve coached Zidane, Ronaldo and Ronaldinho, and I’m honoured to add him.”
United and David Moyes still remain confident of landing the player however and are willing to play on the desire of Florentino Perez to land Tottenham’s Gareth Bale in order to do so. The money they could raise from the sale of Cristiano Ronaldo would certainly help in the chase for the Spurs star. Elsewhere, Moyes hasn’t ruled out offering Wayne Rooney in a potential swap deal.
Will Ronaldo join up with United again this summer? Rate this rumour below.
