The Daily Mail have a rather interesting claim for us today in the Football Transfer Tavern as they think that Manchester United could well be set to miss out on one of their top targets – Barcelona midfielder Thiago Alcantara.
The young player has seen his reputation rise and rise after brilliant performances for Spain at the recent Under-21 Championships in Israel and it seemed like he was ready to make the next step in his career and make a move to the Premier League where he would be playing week in week out.
Now it seems this will not be the case after Barcelona made a last ditch attempt to keep the player at the Camp Nou.
Thiago has become frustrated at the lack of first team opportunities and has struggled – quite understandably to break the hold of Xavi and Andres Iniesta in the middle of the park – and now it seems that he could well be afforded another chance to do so.
The midfielder has just seen his brother Rafinha extend his contract at the Camp Nou and tweeted ‘I love Barcelona,’ casting doubt on the assumed move to Old Trafford.
David Moyes also has another headache on his hands – the future of Wayne Rooney, which seems under doubt after it was claimed the player is still looking to leave Old Trafford.
Do you think Moyes can get his hands on Thiago Alcantara? Rate this rumour below.
