Manchester United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are unsure whether or not he is the right man for the club after the Daily Mail revealed they have agreed a £20.5m deal with Borussia Dortmund for midfielder Ilkay Gundogan.
Louis van Gaal is closing in on a deal for the German international who may be looking to jump ship as Jurgen Klopp is set to leave the club in the summer.
The midfielder has been bright spark at the Westfalenstadion over the past few years but he has struggled this season, during Dortmund’s nightmare season.
He is a ball playing midfielder who has only chipped in with nine goals in 75 games but this hasn’t put off Arsenal who are also interested in the 24-year-old.
But the idea van Gaal has is to make Gundogan a long term replacement for the ageing Michael Carrick.
