The Football Transfer Tavern has been rather quiet today as the few punters in the bar enjoyed the Super Sunday action on show.
However things have picked up as the Daily Star brings speculation that Manchester United are planning a summer move for Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani.
The 26-year-old Uruguay international was thought to be on David Moyes’ wishlist during January, but any approaches were dismissed by the Ligue 1 giants.
Ex-United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has reportedly held talks with his former central defender Laurent Blanc, who now manages the Parc Des Princes side, about taking the powerhouse forward to Old Trafford.
Blanc made it clear to his old gaffer that Cavani wouldn’t be available in the near future, but that looks likely to prevent interest from Moyes as he tries to break the bank again in the summer.
Juan Mata became the club’s record signing at £37.1 million during the January transfer window and now the Old Trafford club could be planning an even bigger move for the former Napoli man, who has scored 13 times in his 20 games for PSG.
