Arsenal supporters sat in the Football Transfer Tavern look concerned as The Express report that Manchester United are also interested in Bayern Munich striker Mario Mandzukic.
It was revealed last week that the Croatian forward, who has netted 12 goals in 21 games for Bayern this term, is being monitored by the Gunners with his long-term future at the Allianz Arena looking bleak following the forthcoming arrival of Robert Lewandowski.
The Borussia Dortmund player will join up with Pep Guardiola’s side in the summer and this could see Mandzukic offered a limited role. .
The 27-year-old has also been linked with Juventus, but David, Moyes, who was previous interest in the striker while manager at Everton, could move for the prolific striker.
Although Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has now insisted the German champions are not considering a sale.
“We’re very happy with Mario,” Rummenigge said. “He made a major contribution to us winning so many titles last year. I just have to think back to the goal in London.
“He’s a fantastic player who has come on leaps and bounds with Bayern.
“His contract runs until 2016 and I told his advisor in Marrakech that we would be willing to talk about an extension. We have absolutely no intention of selling Mario.”
However, it is still thought that Mandzukic could force a move away if he was to become a back up striker at the Allianz Arena to the Polish signing.
