Manchester United to splash £40m on World Cup hotshot?

Arjen Robben It feels like he’s been around forever but fans in the Football Transfer Tavern were still incredibly impressed with Arjen Robben’s youthful exuberance last night.

The Dutchman was yet again influential for his country opening the scoring in an eventual 3-2 win over Australia.

And according to the Daily Express, it’s tempted Manchester United to offer £40 million to lure him away from Bayern Munich.

Robben was fellow Dutchman Louis van Gaal’s first signing when he took over at the Allianz Arena way back when and he’s thought he be keen on a domestic reunion.

But he’ll do well to lure the 30-year old to Old Trafford with Robben currently having a contract with the Bundesliga holders until 2017.

van Gaal will take over the reins of the Manchester club upon the completion of the World Cup.

Manchester United fans. Robben has been so, so impressive at the World Cup but £40 million for a 30-year old is an awful lot of money, isn’t it? Let us know your thoughts below.
