The Daily Star has an utterly shocking claim here in the Football Transfer Tavern.
They note that David Moyes is about to be handed a huge war chest and could well be set to target one of the hottest properties in Europe with it.
The club are of course looking to rebuild under a new manager and bring in some world class players and as our punters note, they certainly have some money left over from the summer to do that given the only player they managed to bring in was Marouane Fellaini.
The amount of money Moyes is being trusted with is staggering – £150 million – and it certainly makes it very clear just how much the board support the new manager and the faith they have in him.
Moyes is reportedly targeting Edinson Cavani, who only moved to Paris Saint-Germain last summer and would have to stump up at least a third of his budget for the Uruguayan forward.
Rumours over the future of Robin van Persie and also Wayne Rooney refuse to die down and with Cavani still reportedly eyeing up a move to England, there could well be a major shake up at Old Trafford in the near future.
Our landlord notes that we would love to see Cavani in England, but can we expect Chelsea to rival United for the player’s affections?
Do Manchester United stand a chance of luring Cavani? Surely they must acquire Champions League football first?
