Manchester United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have turned their attention to another defensive target after the London Evening Standard revealed that Atletico Madrid’s Miranda said he was ‘proud’ to be linked with the Red Devils.
Despite the huge speculation surrounding Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels, there is also another defender in Europe on Louis van Gaal’s books.
Miranda, who has been linked with Manchester United for the past few seasons, now has 18 months remaining on his contract, and Diego Simeone could opt to cash in on the Brazilian if he does not sign a contract extension.
Miranda has dropped the hint that he is aware of the interest from the Red Devils but insists he has his heart is set on staying with Atleti.
“Of course this news reaches me, and it makes me happy. It shows I am doing well,” he added.
“It makes me proud, but my intention is to stay at Atletico because I still have a year and a half on my contract.”
This leaves United empty handed as they could lose out on Hummels and Miranda as both defenders are content at their current clubs.
