Manchester United unlikely to land long-term target

Toni KroosWith less than a month left of the season, this weekend will be a fundamental one for teams battling at the top and bottom of the Premier League.

But for Manchester United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern, who have so used to be involved in a title challenge, their season is already over following their exit from the Champions League during the week.

Thoughts have now turned to next season and how under-pressure manager David Moyes can significantly improve the side that he has turned from champions to seventh place in one term.

One player that has been continually linked with a move to Old Trafford is Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos but Jamie Jackson from The Guardian is on hand to spell further bad news for the Red Devils supporters in the bar.

Jackson indicates that officials from United now believe it will be difficult to land Kroos this summer with the German international expected to remain with the Bundesliga champions.

This could serve as an early blow to Moyes’ plans for the summer as he plans a £200 million overhaul of his under-performing squad over the post-season.

Jackson claims that while United have not given up all hope of signing the impressive 24-year-old, whose contract only runs until 2015 at the Allianz Arena, they are already looking at other possible targets.

The fact that United will be without Champions League football is seemingly harming their chances in the Kroos pursuit and we reckon that it won’t be the only target put off this summer.
