There are worried looks among Manchester United supporters in the Football Transfer Tavern/
The Manchester Evening News suggests that United manager David Moyes has now admitted that he won’t be making any signings during the January transfer window.
With the Premier League champions currently languishing in seventh place, 11 points off leaders Arsenal and five from Liverpool in fourth place, it was hoped that the Red Devils would be strengthening their side at this first opportunity.
However United supporters’ worst fears appear to have been realised as the papers confirms that the former Everton boss has no plans to add his current squad.
In a frustrating first summer at Old Trafford, Moyes and new chief executive Ed Woodward failed to significantly improve the team that Sir Alex Ferguson left with just Toffees midfielder Marouane Fellaini arriving at the club.
Despite this transfer failure and a testing six months in charge, it seems that Moyes is content with his team and will be not be re-entering the transfer market.
United have been linked with a host of top European talents in the last few weeks but Moyes has dismissed these suggestions telling reporters that he has no plans to buy.
Moyes said: “I don’t think so. I think most of the business will be more towards the summer rather than January.”
The Scot also said that he was close to bringing in Italian Daniele de Rossi in the summer, saying: “We did certainly think about bringing him in the summer time. I don’t think it went as far as a bid.”
Will things really improve under Moyes without any new signings? Let us know your thoughts below.
