Manchester United up the ante in transfer pursuit

lewandowski.jpgMany of us in the Football Transfer Tavern were left gobsmacked last night after watching Real Madrid be thrashed 4-1 to former German champions Borussia Dortmund in their Champions League semi-final first leg.

The man on everyone’s lips was that of Dortmund forward Roberto Lewandoski after he netted four goals in a simply scintillating display as he single-handedly put Jose Mourinho’s Los Blancos outfit to the sword.

The morning after the night before and the Pole is still the centre of conversation with Manchester United fans left genuinely excited after John Edwards from Mail Online arrived to declare that Sir Alex Ferguson will step up his chase for the 24-year-old forward.

Edwards explains that Ferguson had scouts at the Westfalenstadion last night and the English champions are now ready to depart with £30 million to secure the outstanding former Lech Poznan forward.

Lewandoski has been a long-term transfer target for Ferguson as he looks to improve his Premier League winning side next season but he will face fierce competition from Bayern Munich with the Polish international possibly ready to join team-mate Mario Gotze in joining the Bavarians.

Reports suggest that Dortmund do not want to sell the forward and are financially secure enough to turn down bids of around £30 million to ensure he remains with the club despite the striker’s wish to leave in the near future.

Manchester United fans. After watching him dismantle Madrid, how badly do you want Lewandowski at Old Trafford? Let us know your thoughts below.
