Manchester United warned off duo in transfer pursuit

Leighton BainesMetro have claimed that David Moyes has been told to keep his hands to himself by his replacement Roberto Martinez causing some amused looking faces here in the Football Transfer Tavern.

The new Manchester United manager has of course been linked with swoops for his former star duo, Leighton Baines and Marouane Fellaini and now it seems that Roberto Martinez has finally had enough and publicly noted that both the players will be remaining at Goodison Park next season.

Speaking after the pre-season game against Accrington Stanley where his side won 4-1, the Toffees boss noted that: “This is the moment of having speculation, having talks and clubs looking around.

“I see it as a real compliment – you don’t get that if you don’t perform well.

“We are Everton and we want to keep our best performers and we have got our own aims and that is very clear.

“We are not losing any sleep over that [speculation]. We are really focused and trying to work as well as we can as a group, making sure that every day counts towards where we want to get.”

David Moyes of course has his own problems to deal with considering the situation surrounding Wayne Rooney at the minute and in good news for Everton fans, he has his hands full dealing with that!

Do Manchester United stand any chance of luring Baines or Fellaini to Old Trafford this summer? Let us know your thoughts below.
