The Manchester United supporters here in the Transfer Tavern are awaiting an official announcement from their club that names Jose Mourinho as the man to replace Louis van Gaal, who departed Old Trafford yesterday.
With all of the Dutchman’s backroom team leaving with van Gaal, one of the ex-Chelsea boss’ first tasks as manager will be to assemble his own management group.
One of the die-hard’s among the group has been reading The Sun and he has spotted an article which claims former Manchester United favourites Gary Neville and Brian Kidd have both been lined up to join Mourinho.
The Red Devils want Kidd to leave their rivals Manchester City and re-join the club where he had several successful years working with Sir Alex Ferguson.
Neville is currently working as Roy Hodgson’s first-team coach within the England setup but he would likely jump at the chance to join Manchester United in some capacity, after nearly 20 years at the club as a player.
One Manchester United fan is waiting for the Tuesday night grill night to begin in the Tavern’s kitchen and he thinks the club needs some people on the coaching staff who understand the Manchester United way, stating that both Neville and Kidd would be solid additions to the backroom team.
Manchester United fans, would you welcome the return of this duo of coaches? What would they offer the club? Should Mourinho look towards anyone else?
