Manchester United weighing up lucrative offer for La Liga midfielder

The Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are intrigued to see what business Jose Mourinho will try to do in the January transfer window.

As usual, plenty of transfer rumours are flying around and it is hard to separate the facts from the hearsay.

The likes of Gareth Bale and Alex Grimaldo have been mentioned in recent weeks but it now appears that another transfer target has come to light.

Gareth Bale’s team mate at Real Madrid, Casemiro, is supposedly on Manchester United’s radar, according to reports in Spain.

Spanish media outlet Don Balon reported via The Express is reporting that Manchester United are ready to offer a bumper deal to Casemiro if he trades the Bernabeu for Old Trafford.

Casemiro is considered to be one of the best defensive midfielders in La Liga and Jose Mourinho wants that sort of defensive cover for his back four, especially with Michael Carrick coming towards the end of his career.

In a bid to bring the 18-cap Brazilian international to Manchester United, Mourinho is set to match Paul Pogba’s wages.

Pogba is believed to earn in the region of £290,000 and Casemiro will be offered a similar amount as the Red Devils are desperate to sign the 25-year-old.
