It seems their new manager Louis van Gaal knows a thing or two – at least according to BBC Sport.
The publication have claimed that the Dutchman will not be rushed into making any new signings, despite the club desperately needing a fair few – and will make sure that whoever he buys will actually add something worthwhile.
As one of our punters notes over a pint, that makes a nice change from former manager David Moyes, who seemed to buy Marouane Fellaini just to have someone who actually listened to him in training!
van Gaal spoke to the media and claimed: “I don’t buy players for buying players. I buy players to improve my selection.”
The Red Devils have been linked with a host of stars, including Paris Saint-Germain’s Edinson Cavani, Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels and Real Madrid’s Angel Di Maria.
However, as our landlord notes, van Gaal seems to be assessing his squad and taking his time when it comes to making transfer decisions – and crucially, if Ander Herrera’s pre-season performances are anything to go by, getting it right.
