Manchester United won’t land long-term target as first assumed?

Thomas VermaelenArsenal fans do not quite know how to take the latest claim from Metro who seem to think that their skipper will not be joining Manchester United, but is still set to make a £10 million move away.

Barcelona are the club who have stolen the march for Thomas Vermaelen who had been heavily linked with a switch to Manchester United this summer.

But as our landlord has noted, this is a very different Arsene Wenger nowadays and a very different Arsenal we are seeing compared to previous summers with the French tactician not prepared to sell assets to domestic rivals this time.

That of course means that a move to the Camp Nou is on the cards and the majority of our punters think that £10 million is not too bad for a player who is now on the fringes of the club.

There are also some whispers that Wenger will now be looking to add to his squad in terms of the defensive reinforcements before the transfer window closes despite landing Mathieu Debuchy and Calum Chambers.

Arsenal fans. Is refusing to sell to Manchester United a massive step forward for the club compared to summers gone by? Will you miss Vermaelen? Let us know your thoughts below.
