29-year-old reveals what moves him about Man United supporters in big praise of fans

The Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have been wholly impressed about their start to the Premier League campaign.

Unbeaten and joint top of the table, our resident Red Devils believe they are finally in with a shout of winning the top prize in English football without Sir Alex Ferguson.

Indeed, things are going rather well right now under the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’ and comments from Juan Mata posted on the club’s official website indicate just what a happy place Old Trafford is right now.

Writing in his official blog, the Spaniard praised the supporters for the ovation they gave Wayne Rooney, who returned to the Theatre of Dreams for the first time since ending his 13-year spell with the club and returning to Everton.

Much was made about what sort of reception United’s record goalscorer was in for upon his return, though he was largely given a hero’s welcome and Mata has explained his pride at that fact.

”I want to highlight Wayne Rooney’s return to Old Trafford”, wrote the Spaniard.

”He’s part of the Manchester United legend and the crowd gave him the ovation that he deserves when he was substituted.

”Seeing that respect from our fans in the stadium to our former captain was really moving. It makes you feel proud of belonging to this club. I think Wayne has still a lot of things to say in football and I wish him the best for the rest of the season.”
