Manchester United fans will be disappointed to see a feud brewing between Jose Mourinho and Paul Pogba.

The Red Devils were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Derby County following a dramatic penalty shootout in mid-week. Speaking after the game, Mourinho stated that the Frenchman would never captain the club again and removed him from his duties are vice-skipper. Rumours of a rift between the pair intensified following a video showing a frosty exchange between the pair in training.

Reports speculated in the summer that Barcelona and Juventus were both interested in the World Cup winner and the latest developments could force United to cash in on their prized asset. If Pogba does depart, United would be wise to replace him with Arsenal maestro – Aaron Ramsey.

Valued at £40.5m by Transfermarkt, the Welsh international has been a mainstay in the Arsenal side for years after joining the club from Cardiff in 2011. Ramsey has racked up over 330 appearances for the Gunners and was given a key role under new boss Unai Emery. However, his current contract is set to expire in 2019 and the BBC report that the club has withdrawn their offer to extend his stay at the Emirates.

Ramsey would be free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with clubs in January but Arsenal are likely to sell in order to gain some money for the midfielder and United should look to pounce. The 27-year-old scored seven goals and notched eight assists last season as well as scoring four in the Europa League. In a squad of United’s talent, the Wales international could thrive. As well as weakening a fierce Premier League rival, United would have a ready-made replacement for Pogba.

There will be plenty of interest in his services, so Mourinho needs to wrap this deal up quickly.
