Manchester United punters in the Transfer Tavern are feeling a little underwhelmed this evening, following news their club is yet to make contact in their pursuit of Brazilian wonderkid Lyanco.
The highly-rated centre-back is just 20 years of age but has already established himself in the Sao Paolo first-team and represented two countries, Brazil and Serbia, at youth international level.
Earlier this week, Manchester United were reported to be tracking the South American in the printed edition of The Daily Mirror, as covered online by The Express.
But transfer rumour detectives Sport Witness have attempted to dig a little deeper, discussing the report in an exclusive interview with Lyanco’s representative, Frederico Moraes.
As quoted by Sport Witness, he said; “Yeah, I’ve read it. But there’s nothing from England so far. Nothing official has arrived.”
It seems United’s interest may not be as serious as first thought, but when asked whether his client would fancy playing in the Premier League, Moares simply replied; “always.”
Manchester United look set for a busy summer, with The Sun claiming Jose Mourinho is already preparing a clearout for the next transfer window.
Of course, the Red Devils’ ability to attract players will be enhanced by qualifying for the Champions League, but Mourinho’s side still have a good chance of returning to Europe’s most coveted competition.
They’re currently just two points behind fourth-placed Arsenal in the Premier League and are also through to the next round of the Europa League after seeing off St. Etienne.
