It’s bee a difficult few days for the Manchester United fans here in the Transfer Tavern. Indeed, the manner of their Champions League exit at the hands of Sevilla has raised all sorts of questions amongst the punters propping up our bar, who are now looking ahead to the summer.
To that end, according to CalcioMercato via talkSPORT, Manchester United’s unwanted defender, Matteo Darmian has agreed to join Juventus at the end of the season. The Italian defender has only made 13 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils this season, and it looks likely that the 28-year-old will depart Manchester United at the end of the season.
Since joining the Europa League champions from Torino at the start of the 2015-16 season, Darmian has attained 81 appearances for United, scoring one goal. As you can imagine, considering his largely peripheral status, our United mad punters aren’t that bothered about his potential exit.
Because Darmian is deemed surplus to requirements at Manchester United, it could be the best time to sell the full-back, despite his versatility and initial good start to life at the club under Louis van Gaal. At the age of 28, Darmian still has a few years of playing to the best of his abilities. Thus, they could accumulate a large fee from his departure.
