Manchester United haven’t exactly hit the ground running in the current campaign as they’ve already suffered two defeats.
The Red Devils find themselves in a worrying position after a rather sloppy start to proceedings. But, the race for the title is far from over and United could turn things around in a split second to get back to where they belong near the summit of the table.
However, it’s important that Jose Mourinho can identify his best XI to really push towards the title and ensure consistency, with a strong run of results helping them climb back into contention.
So, in an ideal world where injuries aren’t a problem and with the Premier League title at stake, here’s an idea of what Mourinho’s amazing XI should look like…
MANCHESTER UNITED’S AMAZING XI
We’ve gone with a 4-3-3 formation, as that is the formation that Jose Mourinho enjoyed some success from against Burnley, so it would be a good idea for him to stick to this to try and build some momentum.
David De Gea is always one of the first names on the teamsheet as an established shot-stopper that has proven his worth over the years.
Manchester United have struggled to identify their perfect central defensive pairing so far this season, but Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof are to the two that can really do the job. Indeed, Luke Shaw looks like a new signing on the left-hand side of defence, while Antonio Valencia has been his consistent self on the opposite side.
In midfield, Nemanja Matic is vital to both United’s defensive and attacking play as he often brings the opposition’s attacks to a halt, while controlling play and moving the ball forward. Meanwhile, Marouane Fellaini is a much better option in comparison to Fred, with the Belgian being able to assert a sense of calmness in possession and can be a threat from set-pieces. And, Paul Pogba is one of the world’s best performers on his day.
Lastly, the Red Devils’ attacking three will consist of Jesse Lingard, Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez. The Englishman will be looking to replicate his form from the World Cup, and Lukaku bagged two in United’s last game against Burnley. Meanwhile, Alexis Sanchez has all the ability but just needs to come out of his shell a bit.
