Another twist in Man United saga likely to give fans hope of potential big deal

Summer’s barely here for the punters in the Transfer Tavern, though the Manchester United fans propping up our bar have already been through quite the saga it seems.

Antonio Griezmann’s long links with a stunning move to Old Trafford this summer looked to have come to an end following his recent announcement saying he’d stay with Atletico Madrid. Following the La Liga giants’ transfer ban, the fantastic Frenchman committed himself to Los Rojiblancos.

Well, though it previously looked done and dusted, reports from ESPN have sparked yet more interest amongst our resident Red Devils. Indeed, they claim – despite recent suggestions United had dropped their interest – there remains a hope the 26-year-old will eventually move to the Theatre of Dreams.

Though a more traditional centre-forward is understood to have emerged as more of a priority after the injury to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, United are not thought to have entirely ruled out the possibility of paying the €100m release clause Griezmann has in the Spanish capital.

Should they not be able to secure other targets, that move is said to still be under consideration and the Premier League giants are understood to be confident a deal could be done before the 2018-19 campaign.

Though there may be more pressing issues in Jose Mourinho’s team right now, the idea of seeing Griezmann strut his stuff has our local Man United fans excited.
