Arab Owners Set To Snatch Fergie’s ‘Babes’

Dubai owners with their previous big signing

No, not those Arab owners!

Rumours are abounding that the remaining members of Sir Alex Ferguson’s original Manchester United golden generation could well be the latest high profile players to end their career with a lucrative pay day in the Middle East.

Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville and Paul Scholes are all out of contract in the summer and despite currently still getting playing time at United, are highly unlikely to get lucrative extensions come June. Therefore, the potential Dubai riches could well prove too much to turn down.

The lure of the ‘Oil dollar’ has previous persuaded the likes of George Weah and Phillip Cocu to end their careers out there and just last Summer, Fabio Cannavaro joined an Al-Ahli side managed by David O’ Leary. In doing so, the former World Cup winning captain landed a tax free £110,000 a week deal that would equate to signing a contract worth £200,000 a week with Manchester United.

Or, to put it another way, just shy of Wayne Rooney’s new weekly wage.

It’s hardly like living in Dubai would put the United stalwarts off either, Neville already has a house out there and Giggs, like Rooney, has also recently holidayed out there.

A United insider told the Sun newspaper;

“(Giggs) has always rejected moves but this is a very attractive way for him to end his career, a last big pay day in the sun.” Before going on to say that ‘the same goes for Scholesy and Nev.’

Were the trio to make the move, as well as Cannavaro, they would be playing alongside such footballing starlets as former La Liga and Brazil under-20 striker, Fernando Baiano, ex-Dynamo Kiev and star Guinean striker, Ismael Bangoura and former Blackburn Rovers loanee, Carlos Villanueva.
