Arsenal and Man United chomping at the bit to land £10m midfielder, has rejected new deal with current charges

Reece Oxford

As ridiculous as the Transfer Tavern find the notion of a teenager being paid the sort of sums of money we’re about to discuss, the Manchester United and Arsenal fans in tonight are doing their best to hide their smiles.

It was the opening day of the season when West Ham United youngster Reece Oxford put himself in the limelight with a stoic performance against the Gunners on a sunny afternoon at the Emirates.

He may been used sparingly ever since, though that has done little to quell the buzz surrounding the 17-year old ever since.

Now, according to the Sun, the versatile defender has rejected the Hammers’ offer of a new deal.

Able to operate in either midfield or defence, the talented teen is thought to be one of the most sought after English youngsters on the market.

He is believed to have snubbed their offer, looking for a deal in the region of £40,000 per week, as well as a £1m signing on fee.

The Irons are understood to be looking for around £10m, though have little intention of selling.

How far can Oxford go in the game? Is he asking for far too much too soon?
