The Man United and Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern don’t get on too well at the best of times, though they entrenched in an odd state of consolation.
That’s because, according to Blid (via ESPN) Borussia Dortmund are ready to block the exit of playmaker Henrikh Mkhitaryan this summer.
However, having already lost Ilkay Gundogan to Manchester City, they are also seemingly set to lose star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubamayeng to Pep Guardiola’s new charges.
With that in mind, they are reportedly ready to risk losing the 27-year old star on a free next season, rather than give up another star player.
He is said to have snubbed the club’s contract offer, though Dortmund’s CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has denied he could soon leave Signal Iduna Park.
“We’ve been negotiating a new deal with Henrikh Mkhitaryan for four months,” Watzke said.
“We now know he won’t sign an extension. There was never a promise that he can leave us prematurely.”
Can Wenger finally get one over on his old rival at long last?
