The forward four at Manchester United are never far from our minds here at the Football Transfer Tavern and after their performances this season who can blame us. Clearly Goal.com agree after their latest article.
The publication claim that Javier Hernandez is wanted by La Liga high flyers Atletico Madrid who of course are bracing themselves to lose Radamel Falcao in the summer. The Colombian striker is of course one of the hottest properties in world football right now and is well coveted across Europe.
Falcao himself has seemingly become this season’s flirt much like Eden Hazard of a season ago declaring his affection for every league and every club who have taken a second glance at him. Whilst the player is happy to see out the season in the Spanish capital, it seems inevitable that a summer move is on the cards.
Atleti have long been preparing for this and have identified Manchester United’s Mexican international striker as their potential replacement. Hernandez has of course had to play second fiddle to Wayne Rooney and the unstoppable Robin van Persie this season meaning his career has stalled somewhat with the Red Devils. Add to this the fact that Danny Welbeck also produced a man-of-the-match display in the recent derby victory over old foes Liverpool and Chicharito could well be open to a summer switch.
United have also been linked with Robert Lewandowski who is currently under contract at Borussia Dortmund but should he arrive in the summer, further doubt would be cast over Little Pea’s future. The player is valued at £15 million – a sum Atletico would be more than capable of paying.
