Big demands could scupper Man United deal despite Premier League interest

It would take a brave punter in the Transfer Tavern to bet against Manchester United going through yet another expensive overhaul this summer.

The likes of Alvaro Morata have recently been linked with a big-money switch to Old Trafford and our resident Red Devils are excited about the transfer window. Still, reports from the Daily Mirror in regards to a player already on their books have sparked debate.

According to their report, Wayne Rooney is at risk of pricing himself out of a move to another Premier League club. Indeed, he’s been strongly linked with a move to boyhood side Everton, with Stoke City, Newcastle United and West Brom also credited with an interest in this report.

However, no English side is believed to be ready to match his huge wages – previously reported to be around £300k-p/w. Still, don’t feel too bad for him, he is understood to be of interest to a number of Chinese Super League clubs that could DOUBLE his salary.

Whether or not the 31-year-old will depart for the Far East remains to be seen, though he is said to have insisted he cannot take a pay cut in England, with £12m thought to be remaining on his two-year United contract.

Considering his performances over the last few months, our resident Red Devils aren’t too concerned about where he ends up.
