Ander Herrera is a hugely popular figure amongst the Manchester United fans here in the Transfer Tavern.
Indeed, our resident Red Devils have celebrated the Spaniard pretty much since he arrived on these shores back in the summer of 2014, with the La Roja star emerging as one of their most important players last term.
So, reports emanating out his homeland have proven rather baffling for our United-mad punters.
According to El Gold Digital, the midfielder could be set for a January EXIT from Old Trafford. The likes of Valencia and Athletico Bilbao (his former club) are understood to retain an interest in the 27-year-old, with the report suggesting his departure is ‘assured’.
To be fair, the Spanish international has had to wait for his chances this season. Jose Mourinho has preferred deploying Nemanja Matic next to Paul Pogba in a double midfield pivot, with Marouane Fellaini looking as if he’s the first option from the bench.
Still, despite his frequent benching this season, the United fans propping up our bar really don’t want to see Herrera leave.
United would be mad to sell Herrera. He may not be your typical silky Spanish midfielder, though provides so much in the way of breaking up play in a destroyer role, the ideal foil for the likes of Pogba and Matic in the bigger games this season.
