It’s not often these days that the biggest name chose to move to the Theatre of Dreams when offered those sort of clubs, but perhaps this will signal a change in the faltering fortunes at Old Trafford.
Despite being sacked by Chelsea after a miserable season, Mourinho remains one of the elite managers in the world and was understood to be inundated with offers from all around the globe.
However, one of the managerial sagas of the ages looks to be drawing to a close as his move to United edges ever closer.
