This has left the Man Utd fans in the Football Transfer Tavern looking a little bit nervous…
Jose Mourinho’s sides are renowned in the Tavern for two things; strong defences and their tireless work rate.
They are the benchmarks of what makes Mourinho led outfits so efficient – and they are often what have led to his domination throughout many of Europe’s major leagues.
It has been a particularly poor week for the United fans in the Transfer Tavern, falling to a trio of defeats against Feyenoord, Man City and Watford respectively.
And while the Portuguese has, in typical Mourinho style, pointed to external factors for his side’s poor performance – it appears that it is the United playing squad themselves who are to blame for the club’s poor run of form.
According to the Mirror, United are, statistically, the laziest team in the Premier League – having run, collectively, the smallest distance since the start of the 2016/17 Premier League season.
United sit bottom of the list, having run just 526.6 km so far this season.
This is in stark contrast to rivals Liverpool, who have covered a whopping 581.6 km – more than 50 km more than their historic rivals.
For a manager that prides himself on a strong work ethic and excellent player fitness – this does not bode well for the future of Manchester United.
Not playing well is one thing – but not putting in the effort? Mourinho is going to have to have some harsh words with his playing squad…
