The Welshman, a legend with the Red Devils, is currently working as Louis van Gaal’s right-hand man and has previously been mooted as a potential long-term option in the club’s managerial role.

Following the sacking of David Moyes in 2014, the former winger stepped in to take charge for the closing four games of that season.

However, with Jose Mourinho continually linked with a move to Old Trafford, recent reports suggested his arrival could force Giggs out.

While there is understood to have been support to get the 42-year old the top job from behind the scenes, it is believed the controversial Portuguese has overcome opposition to land it.

The Mail go on to suggest that the former Welsh international IS aware from interest North of the Border, though currently has reservations in regards to moving into Scottish football.

Arch rivals Rangers will return to the top flight, making the league more competitive, though the Hoops are still just as likely to dominate domestically despite their dramatic Old Firm loss.

Is moving to Celtic the best step Giggs can take? Could it prove to be a masterstroke?
