It’s three cheers for the Manchester United and Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern this evening as our friends over in Rome open the door to a potential mega summer deal.
Miralem Pjanic is a name we’ve heard bandied about our four halls quite often recently, with both the Red Devils and the Blues linked with mega moves for the Bosnian maestro.
The 26-year old is thought to be a major target of incoming Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, though earlier reports had suggested Juventus had trigged a release clause in his deal in the Italian capital.
However, I Giallorossi have quelled any notion their playmaker could be off to Turin this summer by releasing a statement on their official website.
“AS Roma denies today’s report on sportmediaset.it concerning an alleged payment of the buy-out clause in Miralem Pjanic’s contract as the story is completely groundless.”
Though they’ve taken a stand against that, both Premier League titans will surely take heart in knowing that the Old Lady have not yet firmed up their interest.
How big a signing would Pjanic be? Is he Premier League quality?
