Our Manchester United fans here in the Transfer Tavern are weighing up how to react to the latest news breaking surrounding their marmite midfielder Marouane Fellaini.
For many of the Old Trafford faithful, finally seeing the departure of the Belgian after contract talks had seemingly broken down was a welcome sight. Following years of the midfielder being subject to terrace abuse, with his presence on the pitch slowing United’s play down and turning them into a direct long ball kind of team.
However, after his winner against Arsenal, Mourinho hinted at the Belgian possibly being ready to extend his stay past five years at Old Trafford.
This deal would be all kinds of wrong for United and even though Mourinho has a soft spot for the Belgian, he could surely bring in a higher quality of player into the club instead. Furthermore, with the retirement of Micheal Carrick coming up, the need for top-level midfielders to push this team forward is high on the demands of the regulars here in the pub.
With that being said, our landlord feels that this player should be Mourinho’s number one target this summer.
OUR VERDICT – Toni Kroos
The Real Madrid man is certainly held in very high regard amongst his peers and throughout Europe. He is almost a like for like player to Carrick and one that would certainly change the dynamics of the midfield for the better, which is just what United needs.
The German is vastly experienced and that type of knowledge can win United games and they’ll be hoping more trophies in the near future. Undoubtedly one of the smoothest midfield operators in world football, the World Cup winner would bring so much class and a winning mentality to the club.
Kroos is a needs must in many of the regulars eyes in the summer.
