Douglas Costa can solve Manchester United’s right-wing issues

Douglas Costa can solve Manchester United’s right-wing issues - Manchester United

If not anything else, Manchester United’s crushing loss to Paris-Saint Germain proved a need for more quality on their right-hand side.

Indeed, Ashley Young was shaken up by Angel Di Maria, while both Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata – both of whom aren’t natural right-wingers – failed to make an impact after the double injury blow in the first-half.

For now, United have enough cover on the left-wing, but there’s a real lack of quality on their right flank. Often reliant on Ashley Young’s crossing ability to do the trick, the PSG loss proved the Red Devils need to move on from this predictable tactic.

It seems the loss woke up their hierarchies, as the Red Devils are allegedly looking to sign Douglas Costa from Juventus (according to Zero Hora via Sport Witness).

Indeed, Costa, who’s been reduced to the bench due to their surplus talents, is simply too talented to stay there.

The Brazilian has had a frustrating season for the Old lady, only making one assist in 17 appearances, 10 of which were from the bench. However, Last season, he made 12 assists for the Old Lady along with 4 goals(stats via WhoScored). When given the chance to perform, he usually comes out on top and is exactly the kind of player who could absolutely thrill the Old Trafford faithful.

The Brazilian is not only a fantastic dribbler, but his crossing ability and goal-scoring skills are well known. He might not be a part of Juventus’ plans anymore, but Costa can add that extra finesse to United’s attack and allow them to operate more freely by filling their void on the right-hand flank.

Alongside the likes of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard, the former Bayern man can be the player United thought they were signing in Alexis Sanchez.
