Europa League run in made more difficult by double Man United injury blow

With life at Manchester United looking rather bleak indeed right now, it’s fair to say the punters propping up the bar in the Transfer Tavern could do with some cheering up.

The Red Devils look unlikely to even finish in the top four this season and Jose Mourinho is yet to wholly convince, so reports from the Daily Mail have piled yet more misery on the club.

According to their report, United duo Chris Smalling and Phil Jones are reasonably long-term injury doubts over the next few months or so. Both picked up problems during the international break and were forced to withdraw from Gareth Southgate’s England squad.

Though neither have always convinced the United faithful, the fans in the bar are gutted to hear both could miss the Three Lions’ June internationals, with the Europa League still to play for.

Having to rely on Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo during their run in is a scary thought for those in the Tavern, even if they’ve improved in recent months.
