The mere notion of Cristiano Ronaldo returning to Manchester United has the Transfer Tavern in wide eyed wonderment whenever its tentatively mooted.
An emotional return for the United legend has been linked over the past few summers, though the Portuguese superstar has seemingly always been just out of reach.
While many would believe much of the reluctance to reunite would come on behalf of the Real Madrid forward, considering his status at the summit of European football in the Spanish capital, notable journalist Guillem Balague suggests otherwise.
Writing in his Sky Sports column, the La Liga expert has revealed that while Los Blancos have been putting the feelers out trying to find a buyer for the 31-year old, the Red Devils aren’t overly keen.
Paris Saint-Germain, who’ve also been touted as a potential landing spot, are also said to have reservations over the deal despite their vast amounts of wealth.
‘Real Madrid has tried all season to find a club that would buy him. Ronaldo has also toyed with the idea, no argument about it’, he wrote.
‘But no club, not Manchester United, who have never been that interested, and not PSG, who have met the player five times but consider him still too expensive, have put an offer on the table.’
United fans, are you gutted? Or do you think it makes sense? Rather CR7 than Ibra?
