The Manchester United fans in the Tavern had something to cheer despite 0-0 draw with Sevilla last night as Scott McTominay put in another stellar performance as he looks to cement himself a place on the team sheet for upcoming Premier League games.
The young midfielder, who’s completed 90 minutes a total of eight times for United so far this season, took another step towards being a regular on Jose Mourinho’s team sheet with a strong display in the middle of the park against a Sevilla side that is no pushover.
The dynamic youngster registered Man United’s only shot on target, completed 32 of his 35 passes and recovered the ball nine times during the game and looked more than comfortable whilst many experienced professionals failed to shine for the Manchester club.
McTominay’s impressive display had United fans eating their words as many supporters of the club had jumped to criticise the largely underrated midfielder upon his inclusion in the starting eleven over Paul Pogba last night.
The midfielder’s meteoric rise to the first team seemed unlikely back in August as he started the season captaining Man United’s U23 side in the Premier League 2, although fans of the club won’t be complaining of his first-team inclusion if he continues to put performances like last night’s in Seville.
Pogba time is up at OT if mc tominay continues to play like he did

Asked Mourinho about Pogba's response and he segued into another paean to McTominay. Felt he played like a midfielder who had played 'dozens and dozens' of Champions League games. #mufc

Thought the Lad was on point
Would of liked an away goal last night but we didn't get it. De Gea was great as he usually is. Mctominay very good also. Not heard anything positive about mourinho giving youth products a chance.

For me currently McTominay offers more consistency, more control and a far better choice than Pogba who can't be relied upon.

Brilliant that we can play a 21 year old in Central Midfield who has been at the club since he was 9 years old, in the Knock out stages of the Champions League. What Manchester United are all about. #Mctominay #MUFC

I don't think anyone crying out 'why Pogba didn't start yesterday' could give a real reason why they think he should start! McTominay clearly deserves his chance and currently he's above the Frenchman on form.#MUFC
