Fergie vs ‘Arry £4M Race For Superb Serb

PetrovicThe Daily Mail reported recently that both Spurs and Man Utd have sent scouts to go and watch Partizan’s highly rated defensive midfielder, Radosav Petrovic.

The Serbian International has won plaudits all over Europe, with Inter Milan, Juventus, AC Milan and Atheltico all showing an interest in the 21-year-old’s services.

The youngster is coming of age at a rapid rate too, he has become a concrete part of the Serbian starting line up since his debut in 2008 and made the 23-man final squad for the World Cup finals in 2010.

Known for his tenacious ability and venomous shot, he would certainly fit the mould of Tom Huddlestone. However, many may see him as a superior alternative to the England International.

United have also lacked that midfield engine that has dominated the Premier League for years this season. Despite sitting top of the league, many fans and pundits have called for a new defensive midfielder at Old Trafford to beef things up.

United may struggle to land Petrovic for his £4million valuation though. The work-permit circus surrounding Adem Ljajic and Zoran Tosic’s proposed moves to Old Trafford may have upset the Partizan fans and may give Spurs the edge in the race for the Serb.

Fergie may be very serious over this one though, rumours have it that he has sent Jaap Stam, one of his most trusted scouts following the success of Javier Hernandez, to keep an eye on the Partizan midfielder.

With so many potential suitors and a possible January swap, Petrovic’s asking price may even double  during negotiations. However, with other tansfer targets such as Lassana Diarra, Cheik Tiote or Yann M’Vila expected to probably cost a minimum of £8-10million, this could still be a bargain in comparison.

Time will tell, check out some ‘jazzy’ highlights of the lad below! Make sure you wait until the end, when the Serb bangs in a phenomenal goal.
