With the Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern still absolutely buzzing from their 4-0 opening day win, it’s fair to say they’re in a good mood.
Indeed, life under Jose Mourinho is looking rather rosy now and reports from the Daily Mail have only excited them even further.
In a look at potential targets to complete the Red Devils’ summer spend, they suggest Arjen Robben could be tempted with a move to Old Trafford. Mourinho is understood to want a winger to round out his squad, with the likes of Ivan Perisic and Gareth Bale previously linked.
They claim the vastly experienced Dutchman could be tempted by a final flourish elsewhere, with the 33-year-old surely coming to the final two seasons or so of his storied career. His arrival at the Theatre of Dreams would reunite him with the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’, who he helped win the Premier League title with Chelsea on two occasions.
As you can imagine, despite his advancing years, the United-mad punters in our bar would adore the sight of Robben lining up for them.
If United can land Robben at a reasonable price, he’d be a wonderful addition. Perhaps not a long-term one, though he’d help bring some star quality back to the club and we saw just how much of an impact Zlatan Ibrahimovic made last season.
As long as they don’t overpay, he’d be a great signing.
