The United fans in the Transfer Tavern are still celebrating what was their most memorable Manchester derby win in recent memory. The fans have now been reacting to comments made by fan-favourite, Juan Mata on the Manchester United website about the incredible comeback win at the Etihad. Mata was an unused substitute for United, but that won’t stop him celebrating the fantastic result.

The United fans keeping our bar afloat would’ve been feeling as down as ever after 45 minutes of the Manchester derby. Goals from Vincent Kompany and Ilkay Gundogan gave City a deserved first-half 2-0 lead and after Raheem Sterling spurned two brilliant chances before the break, the Citizens looked like they were going to amass a cricket score against United. However, two Paul Pogba goals in just two minutes had the scores level ten minutes into the second period before Chris Smalling made himself the hero, latching onto the end of an Alexis Sanchez free kick with just over 20 minutes to play.
The result, although having little impact on City’s title charge, will go down in history with the Manchester United fans who can famously claim to have got one over their all-conquering rivals this campaign. Manchester United turned up at The Etihad with the world expecting them to play the clowns in City’s title win, but the Red Devils shocked the footballing world with the result and Juan Mata is proud to have been apart of the squad to do it, claiming that every derby is a special game.

If ever there was a game of two completely different halves then this was it!

It was much more than a derby. It was the biggest battle for pride that we'll see for a long time.
