Global superstar snubs audacious Spurs bid, set for blockbuster Man United move

While the Spurs fans in the Transfer Tavern are no doubt disappointed at the outcome, they have given a wry smile at the mere notion of this latest report.

According to notable Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, the North London outfit made an audacious bid for superstar Swedish forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The 34-year old is the hottest property on the market this summer as his contract with Paris Saint-Germain begins to wind down.

Manchester United are thought to be favourites to land the former Barcelona superstar, though moves to Italy and the MLS have also been mooted.

However, the report claims that had been an offer emanating out of White Hart Lane in a move that would have split the Premier League into two, though it was not quite enough to convince the player.

With Champions League football on the way, as well as a seismic stadium move, Spurs are understood to be pressing ahead in attempts to significantly improve their dynamic young squad.

Will we see Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the Premier League next season?
