The Manchester United fans in and around the Transfer Tavern are hoping that more business is soon to happen after making a positive start.
The Red Devils have already secured a couple of signings this summer, but the fans are demanding more if they’re serious about challenging for the Premier League title.
Considering they were some way off beating Manchester City last season, it seems more than two players are necessary if Man United are to launch a proper challenge on Pep Guardiola’s side.
With it being well documented that Man United are in the mix to sign a new central defender, our punters are hopeful that Ruben Dias, (who is valued at £19.8 million on Transfermarkt) will be the man to be partner Eric Bailly.
The 21-year-old defender currently plays for Benfica and after impressing during his 31 total appearances last season, Dias should most certainly be a man that the Red Devils consider this summer.
When fit, he is a formidable presence at the back, showing his strength and ability to command his fellow defenders. He also knows where the net is, as Dias scored four goals last year.
Last season was his first full season with the Benfica senior team, given that he was previously playing for the B team. Having been involved with Benfica since 2008, he has steadily moved through their youth ranks up until this point – but perhaps it’s time for him to move on.
A move to Old Trafford would be a big step, but the Portuguese’s shoes are big enough to make the leap.
Would Ruben Dias make a good signing… Let us know!
