Manchester United endured a disappointing end to the summer transfer window.

Jose Mourinho was desperate to improve his squad before the window closed on Thursday afternoon following a dismal pre-season. Despite their efforts, United were unable to land any of their targets following a move for Atletico Madrid's Diego Godin. Mourinho reportedly wanted to sign Willian from Chelsea before business concluded.

The Portuguese was eager to add another forward to his attack to partner Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez. The former Real Madrid boss worked with the Brazil international during his time with Chelsea and wanted to bring him to Old Trafford. However, following Antonio Conte’s departure, the Brazilian was content to stay at Stamford Bridge and work with new boss Maurizio Sarri.

If Mourinho still wants to bolster his attack when the window reopens in January, he will need to find an alternative.  One man he could target is PSV Eindhoven winger – Hirving Lozano. The Mexican enjoyed a stellar season in the Eredivisie and attracted interest from clubs all around Europe.

Valued at £27m by Transfermarkt, Lozano bagged 17 goals in the Eredivisie as well as notching eight assists to help his side lift the title. His form continued at the 2018 World Cup where he scored against Germany to send the reigning champions home at the group stage.

Lozano is still only 23-years-old meaning his best years are ahead of him. The former Pachuca man is blessed with electrifying pace and expert dribbling ability which makes him a nightmare for defenders. While Willian has Premier League experience, Lozano has time on his side, and his performances suggest he has all the right attributes to be a huge star in England.

Should Willian still want to stay at Chelsea, moving for Lozano is the right move to make for the Red Devils if his tremendous form continues.
