The Manchester United Spanish midfielder could be set for a return to Valencia, according to reports in the Sun

The 30-year-old was with Valencia between 2007 and 2011, before he moved to London to play for Chelsea.

Juan Mata is a technically skilful player, but at his age, and with just twelve months remaining on his contract, a sale might be for the best for the Old Trafford outfit.

Mourinho is a manager with a reputation for preferring experienced players, but should Mata leave, surely it is time to trust younger members of his squad.

With that in mind, here are two youngsters Mourinho must trust if Mata were to depart Old Trafford.

Angel Gomes

Angel Gomes is one of the most exciting youth prospects at the Red Devils. The 17-year-old attacking midfielder has been through the youth ranks with England, and has already made a senior appearance for the Old Trafford outfit.

With the likes of Callum Hudson-Odoi, of the same age as Gomes, coming though at Chelsea, and shining in the senior team, surely it is time Jose Mourinho trusted the young prospect.

The player is of a small build, but has extremely tight control, similar to Juan Mata. If Mourinho was to trust him, first team football at Old Trafford at his age could really push him on to the next level.

Andreas Pereira

The Belgian-born player has a technical talent similar to that of Mata, and is just starting to break into the first team set-up at Old Trafford.

The 22-year-old spent last season on loan with Valencia, whom Juan Mata began his senior career with.

Surely it is time Jose Mourinho put his faith in this youngster, particularly if Mata does exit.
