Clearly, the Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are largely waxing lyrical about the majestic Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The superstar Swede scored twice at Wembley yesterday to help his side to only the second trophy without Sir Alex Ferguson, ensuring a win despite a poor team performance.
However, as important as the 35-year-old clearly is for United, there is something to be said for the other man on the scoresheet from their perspective yesterday. A certain Jesse Lingard.
Though the wide attacking berths are fiercely contested in Jose Mourinho’s squad, the England international is surely establishing himself as one of the first choices under the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’. Having progressed through the youth ranks with his boyhood heroes, the 23-year-old is making a name for himself in big games.
3 – Jesse Lingard has scored in each of his last three appearances at Wembley for Manchester United. Habit.

In fact, he’s scored in all of his last THREE appearances for United at Wembley, famously hitting the FA Cup winner against Crystal Palace during last May’s final.
He has some way to go if he’s ever going to be considered in the same class as Ibra, though Lingard certainly does love a day at Wembley.
Should Lingard start more often? Let us know below…
