You’re pretty much guaranteed to find the Manchester United and Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern arguing about something more often and not, such is the intense nature of rivalry between the two sets of supporters.
Though their great many battles have largely been contested towards the summit of English football, the North West neighbours have found themselves trailing the likes of Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester City in the Premier League table in recent years.
Much has been made by our locals Reds in the bar, joking about United’s penchant for buying players more focused on their image and branding than ones to pull them out of this slump. World record man Paul Pogba has come in for criticism for his mixed outings since joining from Juventus, instead focusing on the glitz and glamour that came with his switch.
Still, not to be outdone, the Red Devils poked fun at Anfield legend Steven Gerrard over the course of the weekend. Unveiling a banner of both Pogba and Jesse Lingard ‘dabbing’ they’ve taken an image of the Kop titan during his infamous slip against Chelsea in the Premier League a few years ago.
