‘Impossible for him to replace Lukaku’ – Man United fans react to journalist’s tweet about striker

The United fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to a tweet by Mark Ogden. Ogden claims that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is set to leave Old Trafford at the end of the season as he’s been on a low basic wage this season made by incentives he hasn’t been able to trigger due to lack of game time. The Swede was on a higher wage last season as he was one of the key performers in Jose Mourinho’s team that won the Europa League and League Cup.

The United fans propping up out bar have been slating Zlatan, as despite his heroics last season, the fans find it ludicrous that the player is set to leave the club over his wage. The 36-year-old has had a stellar career, winning every domestic league he’d played in until he joined United. However, his short two-year spell at United has still been successful. The target-man was United’s top goal scorer last season although his career in Manchester has stalled since he damaged ligaments in his knee at the end of last season.

Since damaging his knee ligaments Zlatan has struggled for game time at United. The Swede has only made a handful of appearances this season and has been unable to convince Jose Mourinho that he deserves a place in the team ahead of current top-scorer Romelu Lukaku. What the striker does provide, however, is a winning mentality as his honours list is longer than your average player and has brought success to every club team he’s played for.
